What is GradTurbo?
We are looking to become the world's largest student start-up accelerator and we're looking for students to join us on the journey from student job to start-up CEO rock-star!
Gradturbo is the global startup academy for students. By providing practical and financial support, we take students on the journey from first steps in developing a business to partner and CEO on a part time basis.
Along the way, participants learn everything they will need in order to succeed in business from pitching to finance, from sales to product design, from basic coding to website configuration, from coaching and mentoring to hiring and firing, from procurement to negotiation skills, from podcasting to live streaming, from networking to fundraising.
Participants are expected to join while in full-time education and, if all goes well, can build the business which will employ them full-time and reward them when they graduate.
This is a start-up? What’s the plan?
The first thing to say is that this is a pre-launch start-up. There isn’t a major organisation behind the website (yet). There isn’t a huge team of people (yet). There isn’t a bottomless pit of cash (if only).
The goal is to build the world’s largest start-up accelerator for students, with two initial phases.
Phase two: A subscription service which gives students access to not only the ability to raise seed capital but, perhaps more valuably, step-by-step coaching and training in the tools, skills and processes required to build a successful start-up from scratch.
Phase one: To get to Phase two, you need to build the foundation layer, which is Phase one. Phase one has three objectives. One, build a community. Two, build a base of customers willing to subscribe. Three, build an ecosystem of external companies that are willing to partner, sponsor and buy from the Gradturbo community.
Phase one is our starting point and, in practical terms, comprises a number of weekly tasks or missions for each Campus Champion. These tasks will be set for each Campus Champion each Sunday evening. Each week, the weekly missions will come with a rate card: the value that Gradturbo will pay for different levels of success on each mission. To be clear, there is no salary or wage. Payout will be directly linked to output. I see this as a positive because it gives each Campus Champion flexibility. The flexibility to contribute at a level that works for the individual. If you are busy with your studies and other commitments, that’s absolutely fine. And if you have the time and can deliver the results, you will get paid. No upper or lower limits. 100% flexible.
What are the responsibilities of a campus champion?
In phase one, the role has three functions:
How is the work set?
Participants start by undertaking a series of sales and networking tasks and missions which increase network, visibility and revenue, as well as business skill and expertise over time.
How do I get paid? How much can I expect to get paid?
There is no wage or weekly salary. The role is performance-based based on the tasks and rate card provided each week. Your ability to earn is directly proportionate to your success. Unless stated, there is no upper cap on potential earnings.
All payments will be made via PayPal. We need to have your PayPal account details to make payment.
Once I’ve had an offer, what do I need to do to get started as a Campus Champion?
I will need a number where I can connect with you on WhatsApp? I will also need you to share your PayPal details so that I can pay you (if you don’t have a PayPal account, you’ll need to set one up and share your details).
I hope this all makes sense and that you are as excited as I am to get started. Let me know if you have any remaining questions.
Thank you again for your time and your interest in Gradturbo.
